About The Temple
The Temple is located in midtown Atlanta and is one of American Judaism’s most historic religious institutions. Founded in 1867, it is the city’s oldest and most diverse synagogue.
Breman Education Center
The main goal of our education program is to help our students form a positive Jewish identity that will grow and remain strong throughout the years. This identity will enable students to interact in the modern world as Jews, proud of their Jewish heritage.
Lifecycles
The Temple is an extended family, and like any family, we are excited to be part of the major milestones in our members lives. At every stage of life, from its beginning to its end, the clergy are available to assist.
Worship
The central purpose of any synagogue is the development of Jewish spirituality. The Temple believes we best serve God through a pluralistic approach to worship, allowing for the personal experience of prayer to coexist alongside a welcoming spiritual environment for the entire community.
Social Justice
The Temple is a premiere social action congregation in Atlanta as well as a model for the Reform Movement. We achieve this distinction through our wide array of mitzvah opportunities, educational programs, and community involvement, led by a partnership of professional and lay leaders and an engaged membership.
Community
Our engagement team strives to connect every member of the Temple to the community. They're the ones that make The Temple feel like home to anyone who walks in the door!

AprApril 7 , 2025Zionism Before & After October 7th
Monday, Apr 7th 10:30a to 12:00p
Our world was turned upside down on October 7, 2023. The Israel we love is not the same, and Zionism is not the same. Over the last months, many of us listened alone or together to video-taped lectures and podcasts, but there was not enough time to discuss what we heard or what we felt. This class has been designed to do just that: to revisit the past and imagine the future... hear a variety of voices from the past, examine original documents that led to the establishment of political Zionism, and consider a variety of responses to the present situation. The class will run 1 1/2 hours so that there will be sufficient time to add your voices to the conversation. Join us to delve beyond the noise in TV sound bites to gain a new understanding of Zionism: How did it all begin? What were some of the choices of the past? What are some new responses? Taught by Shelley Buxbaum, PhD To register for this course, you may use either the JCC website - www.atlantajcc.org or call the Registration Team at (678) 812-4010. -

Tuesday, Apr 8th 12:00p to 1:00p
Tuesday, March 25th - Join Rabbis Lydia and Dan Medwin for the start of this lunch and learn series to hear about their time living in Jerusalem, what they saw, what they learned, and how it has impacted their family and their perspectives on Israel. Tuesday, April 8th - A prominent Reform rabbi in Israel, leading Jerusalem’s most well-known Reform shul (called Kol HaNeshamah), Rabbi Mazor holds deep empathy for the families of the hostages (one of whom is a member of his shul) and a deep commitment to justice in the West Bank and Gaza. Join us to learn from him about how he holds these tensions and so many more while shepherding his congregation. Tuesday, April 15th - Rabbi Ezrachi-Vered is the leader of Spirit of the Gallilee, an interfaith organization committed to relationship building and change making in the northern areas of Israel. There, she convenes Israeli imams, priests, rabbis, and pastors, eager to connect and build bridges that lead to a more peaceful future. Join us to get a sense of her energy, her hope, and the light she is bringing to the region. Tuesday, April 20th - Join for this special session with Ariel Fogelman, director of Yalla! Israel, the NFTY in Israel experience, and current rabbinic student, to hear about his reservist service on Israel’s border as an educator and ethicist. Learn about his perspective as a teacher of Israel’s young adults serving as soldiers, and the father of a teen about to begin a tour of her own. Tuesday, April 27th - To wrap up our series, we bring you the perspectives of two high school seniors, one Israel and one Palestinian who lives in East Jerusalem. These two young women grew up together through Elementary and Middle School and now, as they face graduation, they will take two different paths into their young adult years. Join us to hear from them about what life is like right now, how they continue to relate to one another, and what they see when they look to the future. -
